help them get ahead in their position at work. There are many reasons why people work overtime and in some cases overtime may be necessary and beneficial. But, working overtime
is more likely to offer up negative consequences, and point to negative conditions, than not. The following paper examines both sides and argues that working too many hours is detrimental
for many reasons. Is Working Too Many Hours Good? Working long hours is something that may well be necessary for some
people. They may need to work overtime to support their family, pay their bills, and ultimately just simply survive and make ends meet. As such one can see that it
may be necessary to work overtime, but that does not mean it is good. In fact, if a person has to work overtime just to make ends meet, assuming they
are not paying for a second house or other extravagant things, then working overtime is bad because the cost of living is too high.
There are some who feel that working overtime is good because it allows an individual to get ahead at work, or that it allows them to truly do
a good job at their particular position. This may well be true but in the long run working such long hours is detrimental for many reasons.
