of War, is acknowledged as one of the definitive books on the most problematic of all human endeavors. This paper uses von Clausewitzs book to argue that despite technological advances,
the nature of war has not changed. Discussion In what seems like the blink of an eye, technology has become ubiquitous, society has gone global, and people are used
to shopping in a global marketplace. We have also seen advances in military technology, such as cruise missiles, "smart" bombs, and other advances that have changed the way wars are
fought. But this paper argues that the "nature" of war itself has not changed. The main reason for this is that people themselves have not changed, though the tools we
use have become far more sophisticated, especially the tools of war. Von Clausewitz discusses what he calls the "fog of war" as well as describing war as a "chameleon"; he
also says the nature of war is driven by a "trinity" (people, government and the military) that hasnt changed. Given all this, its easy to see why war itself not
only hasnt changed, but continues to be fought. Perhaps if we could really change its nature, we could stop war for good. But that seems highly unlikely. Take the "fog
