Essay / Research Paper Abstract
12 pages in length. Motivation is one of the most critical components to maintaining exercise commitment. While that is not a disputable fact, the manner by which people achieve satisfactory motivation in order to maintain exercise commitment, however, is where many fail to uphold that resolution. Looking at the synergistic relationship between goal setting and exercise commitment leads one to realize how focusing upon a certain finite objective – reaching a goal weight, dropping a certain number of dress sizes, impressing a new love interest – becomes all-important to the final result. The predicted outcome will show how people who have a specific goal in mind – short- or long-term –when taking on an exercise program maintain much more commitment than their counterparts who have no specific direction in their fitness program. dependent variables indicate the psychological reasoning behind an individuals decision to begin an exercise program. Research questions for test subjects might include the following: 1) What is your
primary reason for wanting to begin an exercise program? 2) Is this the first time you have embarked upon a structured exercise program? 3) Do you have any specific goals
you want to reach? 4) Are they short-term or long-term? 5) Is there any particular motivating factor that has proven effective for you in the past with regard to commitment?
6) Do you consider yourself a very disciplined person? 7) Is it easy for you to become discouraged if anticipated objectives are not reached in a given amount of time?
III. METHODS/PROCEDURES/RESULTS Qualitative research explores an area, collects data through observations and interviews with people and generates hypotheses. Working in the
opposite direction as the quantitative research, in this method the researcher would first explore the geographic location collecting the data through interviews and observation, and then generate a hypothesis based
