influence. However, not all issues may be as easily defined. As an individual progresses throughout there lifetime most will want to progress in their chosen career, or at least gain
some type of promotion. This type of progression is usually associated with increasing pay levels. In other countries there are systems where promotion is linked to seniority rather than promotion
based only on merit. There is also some degree of this within the western world, saying such as respect your elders indicate that there is some degree of expectation regarding
the way we will be seen as we get older. However, in a merit based system age is not enough, the issue of experience can be highly influential. It
is assumed that when an individual is following a career path they will progress, but that if they change there may need to be a step sideways or a step
backwards. However, there are also many individuals who appear to stay in the same position for many years, happy with their job and not seeking to progress. There is also
some argument that it is by changing careers and leapfrogging that an individual may be able to best maximize their income. The question is therefore whether or not experience matters
and if it can make a difference to the wages that an individual will receive. To examine this a sample will be selected in order to assess whether or
