that make it one of the most culturally diverse populations in the entire world. This blending of such culture has been credited with bringing societies closer together and allowing
people to understand and accept other lifestyles other than their own. However, this is no longer true; while America may still house the greatest variety of peoples, there has
been a renewed focus toward repatriation within the African-American community. Back in the middle of the century, when it actually meant something positive
to be of another race or culture living in the United States, the country was in the frame of mind to accept those who chose America over their own homeland.
It was a rich and rewarding time when the African-American culture could come together and share its background, incorporate beliefs and enhance the American Way. Successful African-American families
and businesses were born out of these unions, and the country welcomed the cultural mergers. Still, those times were not without violent attacks
upon this specific sector of Americas cultural society. The Ku Klux Klan has been a grim reminder of Americas intolerance toward the African-American community that was so openly not
accepted within the melting pot. Shrouded in white sheets to cover their cowardice faces, white men would beat, burn and kill the black man for no other reason than
to fortify his own white supremacy. According to the Klan, a person with dark skin was of no benefit to this country and was, therefore, not worthy of living.
This twisted mentality was and continues to be a throwback from the days of slavery when blacks were wrongly ruled by whites.
