ones heart, as sinful. Certainly, they would object as it negates everything the church stands for. The media is schizophrenic on this one, highlighting it as detrimental while showing stimulating
video clips. Both the media and politicians want to capture an audience. At the same time, while pornography as a subject is used for political purposes and to gain market
share, some suggest it is something akin to a victimless crime. First, the definition of pornography has always been illusive, and while many have heard the idea that one
knows it when one sees it, but simply cannot define it, Gloria Steinham distinguishes pornography from erotica. She says: "...were trying to point out the difference between pornography and erotica
in somewhat the same way we try to point out the difference between rape and sex" (qtd. in Williams, 2000). In fact, defining pornography does become important in determining its
effects. While Playboy might be acceptable fare, hard core magazines would be considered pornographic. Still, there is some support for the medium. Some therapists say that pornography helps
marriages by providing variety for otherwise good marriages whose sex life has gone South. Few can argue that a pornographic magazine that might spark interest for such a couple is
harmful. Similarly, the teenage boy who is curious is better off looking at something in print or on the Internet than engaging in sex acts with an older woman for
