The question of whether worldly circumstances affect a persons moral worth has been tossed around by philosophers for centuries. Moral worth, of course,
is defined in relation to an individuals morality. The term morality defines that which is proper conduct, it distinguishes right from wrong; morality points to proper behavior that serves
social needs. A number of philosophers have contributed to the debate which has resulted about the innateness of moral worth but among the most interesting of these contributions we
find those by Plato and Aristotle. The following three premises are explored by these philosophers:
