revolutionary change. Incremental changes are often seen as both psychologically easier on management and employees as well as less draining on resources, whereas revolutionary change may require more planning
and hold a greater number of uncertainties. To assess why incremental change is often preferred over revolutionary change both types of change need to be considered. Revolutionary change, may
also be referred to as transformational change or discontinuous change. Discontinuous change, or transformational changes, are major changes, this may be a reorganising, a change in working practices or other
large changes where there is an immediate impact. Nadler (et al, 2004) refers to discontinuous change as "traumatic, painful, and demanding on the organisation". The difficulty of this type of
change is a reason why management need to try to gain participation and support from the employees will be impacted by the change in order to lessen the difficulty of
implementing change. As it is change is going to affect a large number of the employees and the way they work it can be seen as a large scale or
fundamental change (Goodstein, 1994), this also emphasises the need for employee support and participation in the way that the changes introduced and then reinforced, especially as this changes focused on
the tasks of the company undertake, increasing the number of shifts a number of hours worked within the facility in order to increase the output. Incremental changes may be more
gradual, these may be organic changes that evolve naturally, such as changing paperwork, or an adapting culture, or may be managed changes where small steps are being taken. They tend
to take place in a more stable environment and are part of a general evolution within the companys development, feeling natural to the employees and the management. There were
