Flu declared pandemic," 2009). It is a flu that has invaded not only the United States, but also Australia, Europe, and South America ("Swine Flu declared pandemic," 2009). In the
United States, as usual, there is panic because there is shortage. There is not enough H1N1 flu vaccine for all citizens so there is rationing. Some states have reserved the
vaccine for the very young, while other states have reserved it for the elderly and there is much discussion about whether or not this is fair. Further, in addition to
people trying to get the vaccine, there are others who point out that the vaccine is new and perhaps experimental. There are those who remember the flu epidemics of
the past and point out that there were problems with new vaccines and not everything is clear. In fact, in respect to all that is occurring, there are different psychological
reactions from a complete lack of concern to sheer panic (Moore, 2009). In the United States, there is a great deal of people paying attention to symptoms, running to the
Emergency Room with vague complaints and seeking out the vaccine. However, the same thing is not true in other nations. Why? Cheng (2009) reports: "In Britain, there are no long
lines of people seeking swine flu vaccine. Doctors offices arent swamped with desperate calls. And there are no cries of injustice that the vaccine is going to wealthy corporations or
