not had serious concerns about international security issues. Wars are still going on all around the world and people are still dying every single day from one form of warfare
or another. While the majority have been killed by less sophisticated weapons than nuclear weapons, the deaths and the threats still continue. With the recent acquisition made by Iran in
the form of nuclear weaponry, the world has the potential to find itself in another serious position where a tumultuous and unstable power has the capability to destroy many people.
This puts us all at risk. The United States is obviously effected by any nuclear acquisition made by any country in the world. This is predominantly due to the
fact that, at this point in history, the United States is essentially the most powerful nation on the planet. Ever since the demise of the Soviet Union there has truly
been no power to compete with the United States. In light of such a fact, any country with nuclear capabilities becomes a threat to the United States as it is
the United States who is called on by neighboring countries, or other countries, which may be members of the UN, who feel that their country or culture is at risk.
The United States is essentially the big brother of the world and our commitment and political ability to back a country puts us directly in the middle of many international
concerns. The acquisition of nuclear weaponry by Iran puts the United States at risk, first and foremost, because it threatens the neighboring countries. The United States has always seemed to
be of the opinion that other countries who support us are our concern and we are expected to protect them. While many may not think that this effects us directly,
