it gives them a corporate perspective and connections with customers that they would not otherwise be able to achieve (Childs, 2005). In terms of criminology, however, favorable bias toward
the white race - or perhaps against anything that is not - still exists. The Arizona Project provides a view of the obstacles that several groups face (Hanson, 2000).
African Americans Point. "The power and progression of the law during [the 20th century] is also seen in the passage and enforcement
of numerous federal civil rights laws during the 1950s and 1960s" (Smith in Hanson, 2000; p. 76). Adherence to the law should serve to make law enforcement more "colorblind."
Counterpoint. "African Americans as a social group continue to be disadvantaged during the 1990s" (Smith in Hanson, 2000; p. 77). They
are more likely than whites to be living in poverty, be victims of crime and to have children living in poverty. This "provides a framework for understanding their increased
