Today, many people have huge television screens fed by digital cable or DVD players that give one the feeling of a movie theater. Such technology has brought televisions, stereos, video recorders, camcorders and DVD players into homes--all with remote controls--at a fraction of their introductory cost. Entertainment has been enhanced at home and in the movie theater all due to technology, and that includes special effects in live broadcasts and film as well. At work, just as at home, computers have changed things and industries have felt the effects of those changes. As a result of advances in technology, the fashion industry has changed too. Aside from the fact that clothing can be manufactured more quickly, and designs can be created with the use of computer programs instead of by hand, other advances in technology have changed things as well. An improvement in inventory systems in addition to computer design programs have allowed companies to quickly react to the latest fashion trends (Baeb, 2001). To some extent, the Internet facilitates this too (2001). This is important as fashion trends change with the wind. In this day and age, the fashion industry has become reliant on computers in order to design clothing styles, fabric and also to develop marketing strategies (Threlfall, 2001). Traditional methods as it respects sketching and draping are now ignored for the more efficient methods that have come about as a result of computer technology (2001).
