find it much easier to write in first person because he wants to describe the subjective experience of writing, and how he is strengthening his skills, not only in writing
but in researching, presentation and anything else that he feels is important for an evaluator to know. If he uses first person, he might do something like the following. The
first piece under consideration is my analysis of the attitudes of people toward "lower class workers." I found that in the U.S., "low class" really means "low income." Its a
distressing fact that in America, nothing is more important than money; not integrity, not intelligence, not even hard work. Money is the most important thing to Americans (this is a
generalization of course) and that translates into a dislike of poor people, or people who are only getting by. I think this piece is one of my better ones because
I was able to find out the salaries of workers in several countries and compare them with the poverty levels in those countries (I used the U.S. and U.K.). It
was interesting for me to be able to find factual information that was so specific, and to be able to tie it directly to my argument about income and attitudes.
I dont think the piece is my strongest in terms of construction. There are some rough spots in the grammar and if Id had more time I would have
like to give more examples of the wages in various countries, but given the time constraints I think it does its job well enough. The second piece is one about
