a fishermans wife and lived at the port city of Agadir. Sada indicates that Moroccans are extremely friendly and sociable. In Morocco, people often invite new acquaintances to their homes
to "drink tea and share a meal" after only a "few minutes of conversation," according to Sada. This is quite different from the American culture and was an unexpected
adjustment for her. Also, Sada was surprised that American merchants do not bargain, and this constituted another major cultural adjustment. Small cultural differences appear to also have been an adjustment
for Sada, as her American friends did not understand her preference for drinking tea, which stems from the custom in Morocco to drink green mint tea several times a day.
Sada went on to answer questions that informed the interviewer as to the languages used in Morocco (Arabic and Berber languages); holidays (Muslim holidays, such as Candle Festival, which
is part of the Muslim New Year) and customs (such as taking off ones shoes before entering a home and eating with fingers and only using the right hand). Also,
Sada a little of her countrys history, indicating how Arabs arrived in the region while Berbers were the original inhabitants of Morocco. She said that these two major ethnic groups
had largely assimilated with each other. In discussing the differences between the US and Morocco, Sada also mentioned the differences in gender expectation, as most Moroccan men "still expect to
marry a virgin" and most women "would never smoke a cigarette or drink in a bar." This statement implies condemnation of the American cultural norms and this writer/tutor wonder how
Sada feels about this topic. In reference to her home culture, Sada also described the custom of women painting their hands and feet with henna patterns on feast days, which
