experienced monumental changes over the last two decades that have and continue to be so fast, it is impossible to keep up with them. The very way we communicate, the
most basic of all interactions, has changed so dramatically that many people cannot even grasp it. This is an electronic age, one in which technology is embedded in every aspect
of life. The society and population of all nations have changed. It is more diverse and that diversity has also affected every aspect of life. These events have impacted
our educational system in ways that make it nearly impossible for the educational professionals to meet their mandates. Boris-Schacter and Langer (2006) summed up what the educational leader is facing
today succinctly: Today the school leader is expected simultaneously to be a servant-leader, an organizational and social architect, an educator, a moral agent, a child advocate and social worker, a
community activist and a crisis-negotiator-all while raising students standardized-test performance. Green (2004) commented similarly when he reported literature that suggested "leaders should be servants, coaching, influencing, and empowering subordinates to
participate in learning communities" (p. 6). This author goes on to point out that all these new theories of leadership incorporate the principles of older or traditional leadership theories and
studies (Green, 2004). Because of the changes facing school administrators and leaders, many believe that preparation programs for school leaders must change. Green (2004) cites the Interstate School Leaders
Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) as one organization that is advocating change this type of change. The ISLLC has developed a set of six standards for educational leadership (College of Education, 2008;
