a rather stout bulldog whom she called "Georgie." Georgie seemed to have an intestinal problem that day, because he repeatedly stopped to defecate and she expressed concern to him
about the amount that he was going. The bike path was crowded with bikes passing on one side, and we had to walk off the pavement in the
grass right behind Georgie and his owner. There was not enough space to walk past them, and Georgies owner was too preoccupied in what the dog was doing to
make room for us to get by. More problematic than this, though, was the fact that Georgies owner was leaving a trail of dog feces along the grass, making
no effort to clean it up. In the town in which I live, there is a local statute which requires that dog owners clean up their pets feces from
public ways. After watching this for a few minutes and trying to get past the dog and owner, I turned to my friend and said: "This is just
disgusting. I hate when people do not clean up after their pets. Its just irresponsible." My friend nodded and then pointed to Georgies owner, who was staring
at me. She stood up and approached me with a very angry look on your face. "How dare you. This is none of your business and Im having
a hard enough time without your lip. Who the hell made you God anyways. Are you a cop? Do you think you own this place? You
little white girls always think you own the place." She got very close to me, yelling in my face in a very loud voice, and kept saying things like:
