Based on this writer/tutors listening style, my biggest listening deficit is that I find myself not listening when the subject matter seems complex, difficult, or beyond my ability to comprehend.
It takes a concentrated effort on my part to pay attention, for example, when someone, such as my husband, is explaining how to do something technical, such as program the
VCR or install a program on the computer. I can feel my attention turning away from the conversation. In writing a personal response to this question, the student should consider
some the other listening faults listed in the text such as faking attention, jumping to conclusions before the speaker finishes, or failure to make eye contact or consider the emotional,
