paper will examines content management, VOIP, and digital convergence and what they mean for Web design. Discussion Content management is mentioned by several sources as being the most important part
of Internet development, so well start with it. Web content management means that the designers of the website, not the owners, are responsible for keep its content current (Lemieux, 2005).
This is a new concept; most companies who have websites have, until recently, tasked their IT department (if they have one) or specific employees, with keeping the site up to
date. Now the trend is toward either having content management managed by outside companies, or making the site so easy to maintain that "all the customer has to do is
login and get started" (Lemieux, 2005). There is a very good reason for this: "... there is a high demand for the ability to update a website when needed, not
when convenient" (Lemieux, 2005). So the content has to be managed by the consultant, or it has to be so simple and convenient that the company can do it every
time they need to update. This means that the website must give the company the ability to "add/remove/edit pages"; update page content; add images where needed or desired; update contact
information; show updated listings; and "add new tips on their industry everyday" (Lemieux, 2005). This last feature is the result of the proliferation of blogging on the Internet (Lemieux, 2005).
Of course, blogs are also private means of expression and are therefore little more than subjective rants, but their popularity is adding to the trend of developing websites that
