Las Vegas casino. One well-known Internet gambling site based in Antiqua, the Caribbean, makes its main income from the gambling site. "In a typical month, surfers plunk down
$640,000. Because players make more bets per hour than they would at Caesars Palace, they literally lose money to the house twice as fast, says Peter Kjaer, who runs the
two-year-old site. Of the two industries on the Internet that make money, Kjaer says, this is the one I can tell my mother about" (Horn, 2002, 50). More than "two
million gamblers ante up at more than 1,800 virtual casinos" (Horn, 2002, 50) according to statistics. There have, however, been many threats that the Federal Government will be coming
down hard on Internet Casinos by either shutting them down completely or at least putting more stringent regulations on them. Many people feel this is a good thing, since
Internet gambling cannot really control who is gambling - whether it is underage children or not (Horn 2002). Many Internet gambling sites are in unregulated areas as well, which leaves
no recourse for those gamblers who lose their money to unscrupulous Internet sites (Horn 2000). FEDERAL LAWS TRYING TO BE IMPLEMENTED Currently there are several laws that
are trying to be passed to limit the gambling that takes place over the Internet. "Under certain laws, it would be considered illegal to operate an Internet gambling business
within the United States" (Yures, 2002, 193). The downside to this is that gambling sites overseas are allowing Americans to use their gambling sites with no restrictions at all,
(Yures 2002) which creates a catch-22. This is creating "quite a conflict" (Yures, 2002, 193) between the two countries trying to regulate the gambling that Americans are allowed to
