write more about ethics and politics regarding the war today. The question of whether or not the war in Iraq is legal at this point in time is moot.
One might even ask if the International laws regarding war are even appropriate for the kind of warfare this world is facing now. There are no rules for civilized nations
declaring war on all terrorists. There are no boundaries, there are, however, nation states that knowingly harbor terrorists training camps and terrorists themselves. Rules of the Geneva Conventions no longer
apply when Islamic terrorists have captured, tortured and beheaded citizens of other countries and broadcast those acts on television. The issue of the legality of the war in Iraq
will never be satisfactorily answered. The reason for the lack of a certain answer is because of the complexities of international laws regarding acts of aggression along with any nations
own laws about engaging in aggressive actions. According to some, aggressive force is authorized or approved under specific Articles found in the U.N. Charter The first are Articles 39 and
42 that give the Security Council the authority to determine if there is cause to use acts of aggression (Dorf, 2003). These Articles address threats to or breaches of peace
and what is needed "to maintain or restore international peace and security" (Dorf, 2003). The next Article is 51, which says nations have the right to defend themselves, in fact,
it says, there is an "inherent right" for self-defense (Dorf, 2003). The third possible legal ground for war has to do with humanitarian issues, such as genocide (Dorf, 2003). The
