distance learning models on an international level to support greater access to educational resources. The following studies demonstrate the variety of research elements avaialbel on this topic. Descriptive, causal
and relational studies have been conducted that reflect an understanding of this issue and its complexities. These studies reflect some of the issues in managing international higher education enterprises
in the modern global era. DESCRIPTIVE STUDY Altbachs (2002) study "Perspectives on International Higher Education" is a descriptive study in which the author outlines some of the current literature
on the trend of internationalization in higher education. Altbach (2002) research topic relates to the current themes in internationalization, or what he describes as the "elements of globalization" in
higher education programming. Altbachs research problems relates to the fact that the globalization of higher education takes on a number of different managerial and thematic facets. For example, he
describes the flow of students across international borders, the cross-cultural aspects of international higher education planning, variations in locations, and the introduction of distance learning systems through on-line resources.
Altbach (2002) also reflects the views of a number of other theorists, who argue that there is an imperative for the globalization of higher education as a worldwide trend.
There are two central research questions that Altbach seeks to answer: 1. What are the multifaceted aspects of the internationalization of higher education and the responses of colleges
