finance. Each of the topics will be addressed separately for the purpose of providing a clear description and explanation of that aspect of international finance. Certain of the aspects
of international finance will be discussed in terms of effectiveness as related to the Harley Davidson Corporation. However, due to the lack of data and information regarding this companys involvement
and participation in certain areas of international financial management, these connections are few. Harley Davidson has a presence in Europe but not one that cannot be greatly improved particularly in
view of the fact that the extremely high price of gasoline in combination with narrow roads makes a bike more attractive.i In 2001, for instance, Europeans bought 553,000 bikes that
had an engine size of at least 500cc; that is compared to the 507,000 bought by consumers in the United States.ii In 2001, Harley Davidson captured about 9 percent of
worldwide revenue from bike sales.iii But, in the first quarter of 2002, bike sales in Europe soared by 16.6 percent;iv Harley, however, did not claim as many of those sales
as it could have. While Harley has a reputation among those individuals who want to drive bikes, its products are not exactly what Europeans need. Analysts report that 75 percent
