communication with such cultures. Indeed, whenever two individuals from differing cultural backgrounds communicate with one another, there is always some inherent degree of challenge, in that the preconceived notions and
biases instilled in each individual by their respective cultures will have the tendency to lead to misunderstandings, miscommunications, and so forth. The fact that people stem from different cultural backgrounds
gives rise to a number of "intercultural barriers" to communicate, which represent a major challenge which must be overcome as the world moves into an increasingly globalized state of affairs.
Because this is such a pressing issue in todays world, many works of art have been created which attempt to address the issue in some meaningful fashion. One of the
most recent is Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritus 2006 film, "Babel". As a film, "Babel" portrays the troubled interactions of a number of characters from different cultural backgrounds, revealing how intercultural barriers
to communication can lead to tragic consequences, even when all involved parties have the best of intentions. This paragraph helps the student provide a brief overview and summary of
the work. The film "Babel" was a multinational production in its own right, shooting on location in Morocco, Japan, the United States, and Mexico. This is because the plot of
