and the beginning of humankind follows the philosophy of Creationism, opponents strongly argue that it is teaching religion, which violates the U.S. Constitution. This student writer thinks this is a
false conclusion. Further, education is supposed to be about learning and about selecting from among a number of theories in determining what is ones truth. For many others, however, it
is an either/or situation. There are three theories plus sub-theories in this argument. The major controversies arise between and among Creationism, Intelligent Design, and Evolution. In the 1970s, Henry
Morris introduced the term Creation-Science, which was intended to eliminate any religious undertones. variety of events led this group to change the term to Intelligent Design (Pennock, 2009). This provided
an option for people who thought that there had to be some sort of intelligent being who created the universes but that being was not God. Creationism argues that the

that life was created but it does not say who created it. Schools have been wrestling with this issue for decades. There have been some changes in the last
several years, though. For instance, in 2005, the Kansas Board of Education adopted science standards that allow teachers to teach alternative theories to evolution (Bhattacharjee, 2005). This allows for the
