An analysis using Porters 5 Forces framework reveals that this is an industry with very high start-up costs, which restrict the number of competitors. It also shows that although rivalry is strong, it is not usually aggressive. Intel faces many of the same kinds of political and legal challenges as other multinational corporations. These include new laws and regulations and various kinds of lawsuits brought against the company. The company is strongly involved in environmental sustainability and have won awards over many consecutive years for their efforts and accomplishments in this area. Their latest processors, for instance, use significantly less energy and they continue efforts on multiple fronts. This essay includes comments on the nature of hyper-competition, which is the environment companies are currently operating in. The threats are many, in fact, the entire issue of intellectual property rights that is discussed could well be viewed as part of this hyper-competitive marketplace. As for intellectual property, with places like China simply stealing the processes and designs, Intel is in the position of needing to protect itself in different ways. The corporate culture at Intel is undetermined. There are many good things, including the companys recognition in many different arenas.
