paper will follow that thinking. Discussion A quick search for the definition of the word reveals that integrity can refer to things as diverse as safeguarding computer software, forestry, or
morality. But lets assume that the paper is to concentrate on integrity as most of us think of it, as a part of a persons psychological make-up. Here, the definition
that makes sense is simply this: "... the quality or state of being of sound moral principle; uprightness, honesty, sincerity" (Integrity, 2007). But why is the relationship of integrity
to character, if there is one? And why should we bother to act with integrity? Integrity is "one of the most important and oft-cited of virtue terms. It is also
perhaps the most puzzling" (Integrity, 2005). This is because we usually use it as a synonym for "moral," but it is possible for persons with integrity to act immorally, causing
a conflict (Integrity, 2005). Thus, "one may acknowledge a person to have integrity even though that person may hold importantly mistaken moral views" (Integrity, 2005). But how can a person
of integrity be morally wrong? If integrity means standing up for ones beliefs, and if those beliefs are condemned by others, then it is possible for a person of integrity
to follow their own guidance and still find themselves at odds with others. The most usual use of the term "relates to general character. ...What is it to be a
