Brodie and Irving (2007) described reflection in relation to the understanding of what has been learned and the ability to maintain what has been learned in the presence of scrutiny. Learners may show adequate understanding of the principles presented in a diversity program that has a multi-cultural, anti-bias message, but may not actually apply what has been learned unless they can demonstrate reflection.
