failure for a person to feel rested despite a full-nights sleep (1997). Thus, the definition of this disorder is ambiguous. The authors of "The Concise Guide to Evaluation
and Management of Sleep Disorders" have categorized different types of insomnia into three main groups; one is transient insomnias which just last for several days (Reinhart, 1998). Insomnias which
last up to three weeks are called short-term insomnias and finally, chronic insomnias continue for a period greater than three weeks (1998). Reite, Ruddy and Nagel suggest that transient
insomnias may be related to stress, high altitudes or changes in sleep patterns, all of which may have to do with external variables such as those associated with shift
work or traveling through different time zones (1998). Students who stay up late studying for example may be subject to transient insomnia due to the large differentiation in their schedule

insomnias are generally caused by severe stress but chronic insomnia is more evasive (1998). Insomnia, while common, is treatable. Generally, doctors recommend medications and encourage routines as well of the
regulation of alcohol and caffeine (1998). References If youre tired of counting sheep, Kaiser program offers solutions for sleepless nights. (1997, April 21). Business Wire,
