Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 6 page paper discussing mental health hospitalization. Hospitalization for mental health issues does not carry the social stigma it once did, but it still is not favored by insurance providers. The vagaries of insurance can cause hospitals to turn away those who could benefit from their services, but they do not limit treatment for those who absolutely require it. These patients have state hospitals available to them. Though state hospitals may not be as aesthetically pleasing or as discreet as private ones, they do offer quality care to those in need of it without the ability to pay for it. that of integrating the mentally ill back into their homes and back into society. Todays inpatient services strive to be temporary, rather than ongoing. Todays Hospitals
Gaining admittance into a mental health hospital varies according to the type of illness that might be present and the type of hospital under consideration.
Private organizations designed primarily for drug and alcohol treatment rarely if ever will accept any patient who does not have insurance covering treatment unless the patient or his family pays
for a specific treatment period in advance. As example, the former Charter Northridge Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina began operations and existed as an upscale treatment hospital for drug
and alcohol addiction. It offered only 30-day treatment programs from which patients could be released early or alternatively be required to repeat, but its billing was in 30-day increments.
