for good as well as bad as it involved societies. There were numerous technological innovations that allowed for the Industrial Revolution to occur. The following paper examines some of the
innovations that made the Industrial Revolution possible. Innovations of the Industrial Revolution The student requesting this paper notes how "practical rather than pure science was the hallmark of
industrial development." What this essentially means is that despite the technology that was involved in the Industrial Revolution, it was ultimately practicality, the ability to do things faster and perhaps
better that drove the desire to create and use the innovations. The inventions and the science were only relatively important and they would have been useless if they did not
make life easier or men richer. No matter the innovation if people did not desire to use it, or feel that they needed it, then no amount of science could
really change the world. But, because the Industrial Revolution was exciting to many, and full of an almost magical sense of possibilities that were practical, the innovations were seen as
useful. In looking at the revolution it is important to know that people, prior to the revolution, did everything by hand, as they had done for centuries. In essence,
people had always made their own products by hand, or traded their hand made products for another persons hand made products. With the new technology, however, changes were so dramatic
and so incredibly radical that one can see why it is called a revolution. One of the most radical and influential innovations
