resources and creating an environment that fosters innovation. Innovative leadership also means that structures will always be changing. To be effective the contemporary leader must embrace innovation leadership. A
context for truly innovative leadership can only be built if the infrastructure of the organization is dramatically changed. Instead of one based on positional hierarchy, it must be one that
is based on decisional accountability (Porter-OGrady & Malloch, 2011). The traditional hierarchy assumes that people will not be accountable for their own decisions. Management gears everything towards achieving
certain goals and staff members have become disillusioned with these goals (Porter-OGrady & Malloch, 2011). In the past, they have invested too much time and energy towards initiatives
that come from the top and often, have little or nothing to do with their own goals. One outcome of working towards one initiative after another is that there
must be some sort of personal value associated with the initiative if employees are going to accept it (Porter-OGrady & Malloch, 2011). This is especially true for professionals because
they view their profession as a calling as well as a social mandate. There have been many factors involved in professionals losing their standing as a professional in the world,
in other words they have lost their professional identity (Porter-OGrady & Malloch, 2011). A culture of innovation could well return that to them. An innovative workplace will not
be accomplished before a number of steps are taken, the first of which is a commitment to innovation. However, if the infrastructure is to be changed, there needs to be
an interdisciplinary forum that will act as a clearing house for ideas and establishing priorities for innovations (Porter-OGrady & Malloch, 2011). The forum helps discipline and direct the groups
