able to adapt, and renew or alter the source of the competitive advantage. Technology has, and continues to have, a major impact on business and at first glance it appears
that technology could be a very useful source of competitive advantage where used correctly. However, technology is not unique, it is utilized by many firms, which lessens the potential of
it to provide a competitive advantage. There are examples of firms which are successful and are, or have been, highly differentiated or efficient, where the success is highly correlated with
the use of technology. This leaves us with the question regarding whether or not technology can help a company gain a competitive advantage. Companies such as Amazon indicate that there
may be an ability to gain a competitive advantage with the use of technology, but the technology that was once new is being used by many companies and as such
it may be argued that there was a very small window for advantages provided by information technology to be accessed, if it is possible to access at all today.
In order to assess the management of technology the way competitive advantages are gained it is necessary to first define what is meant by competitive advantage. In a competitive environment
the consumer needs a reason to buy a specific product. Any look at service or goods providers, whether in the physical environment or on the internet in the virtual world,
