to criminal actions that can be defined or discovered. Much of the legal realities involve more protective measures than conviction measures. Introduction WarDriving is a term that has
been around for almost a decade. It is also an action that has been around since wireless internet came into being. While it is an action that can create a
lot of problems for people, and weaken a business or individuals integrity and safety, it is not something that is, ultimately, illegal. WarDriving is not an illegal act, but using
the access permitted by WarDriving can be seen as illegal. And, frighteningly enough, "All it takes is a laptop, a Pringles can, a WiFi card and some shareware, and you
could be on the Internet from your car for free" (Vogel, 2002). With these aspects in mind the following paper examines WarDriving from many legal perspectives. Information Technology:
Wardriving WarDriving, according to one author, "is the act of moving around a specific area and mapping the population of wireless access points for statistical purposes. These statistics are then
used to raise awareness of the security problems associated with these types of networks (typically wireless)." (Hurley; Thornton; Puchol, 2004; 3). According to a review of this book by Hurley
et al., it is perhaps well worth the read for anyone interested in this topic (Kucan, 2004). As can be seen it is simply the act of moving around and
