(Raghupathi, 2003). IT applications and systems "capture, organize, store, rationalize and present health information," while also providing integration with "existing and emerging technology" (Raghupathi, 2003, p. 10). The main goal
of IT utilized in healthcare is to use the "various forms of IT in a strategic and intelligent manner for supporting effective health-related decision making" (Raghupathi, 2003, p. 10).
Information technology (IT) is a very complicated subject, as is healthcare. Therefore, when one combines these two complex subjects into one, i.e., healthcare information systems, it creates "irreconcilable differences
that are so complicated as to defy resolution" (Davidson, 203, p. 3). Nevertheless, IT can and must be understood by healthcare professionals and the following research paper is designed
