and adapt it is essential that the employee adapt and adopt the technology if its used is to be maximised. In any business where there is change there is the
potential for a wide range of employee reactions, there may be support for the change, but in many instances there is likely to be some resistance, especially where employers have
not prepared and won over the employees to the change (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007). These can have an impact ion the way that workers may adopt the technology, but the
issues of change and the way it is handled are not the only influences, the influences on technology adoption are wide ranging and may be divided into three categories;
individual factors, organizational factors and technology factors. Each if these categories may be examined individuals to look at these influences. 2. Individual Influences There are a number of potential
influences, these included age, experience in childhood, previous workplace experience, general attitudes towards IT, personal ties to the business, commitment level and type and a personal cost benefit assessment.
In all the categories many of the influences may be complex, often there are likely to be interdependences. One individual influences that has
been assessed is that of age. Research has indicated that there is likely to be a higher level of resistance in older workers (Morris and Venkatesh, 2007). In research undertaken
