with Japanese management practices, have become increasingly popular. While the different range of practices which are collectives referred to as TQM have been observed in Japan for many years, the
spread to many companies in western countries has been seen to emerge in earnest over the last few decades. The Japanese influences on US companies have been seen to emerge
despite the presence of some significant cultural differences. The development of many of the practices adopted in Japan that are finding their way across the may be seen
as able to cross the boarders as the result of a number of influences, these may be aided by the way that some practices had their roots in the US
as well as aspects of internationalization with businesses increasingly undertaking international actions, allowing for the transfer of knowledge and best practices and the phenomena of convergence in business practices.
The practices in Japan emerged as a result of necessity with reference to the commercial conditions in the country, when looking at this it may be argued that although the
same conditions may not exist in many western countries, there have been many of the same pressures creating an environment that has been conducive to increasing adoption and adoption in
the US. By looking at the developments in Japan the similar pressures that facilitated the adoption may be appreciated. When looking at Japan the culture in which the practices
developed was very different. The development of the practices and the associated HRM polices can be seen as starting due to condition in the beginning of the middle of the
