place in her home. Carrie is White, 14.5 months old, 32 inches tall and weighs just over 23 pounds. According to national norms, the 50th percentile length for girls at 14.5 months is 30 inches (CDC, 2008). At 32 inches, Carrie is slightly taller than most female infants her age; she is at the 75th percentile in length. According to this same source, the 50th percentile weight for this age is 22 pounds so Carrie is at about the 60th percentile in weight. During lunch, Carrie sat stably in her high chair and attempted to use a spoon to eat some vegetables. She was better at picking the green beans up with her fingers. An interesting incident was Carrie picking up a bean and putting it on her spoon, then, putting the spoon in her mouth. According to different experts, this is typical behavior for her age (Developmental Psychology Newsletter, n.d.). The scale that was reviewed suggested that at her age, she can sit without support and stands well by herself (Developmental Psychology Newsletter, n.d.). Infants begin walking well between 12.1 and 14.3 months (Developmental Psychology Newsletter, n.d.). Carries walking was a little wobbly at times but for the most part, she walked alone with few sit-downs. This wobbling or toddling from side to side is very appropriate for her age. She even attempts to take backward steps when asked, which is a skill not often observed at 14 months. Between one and two years, infants are transitioning from infanthood to toddler-hood.
