not those benefits exist in proportion with the funding and support that the educational system receives in contemporary society. Societal justice demands that there be a degree of balance, or
equity, between the value put into the educational system and the value that is derived from it. Unfortunately, there is much to question about the current state of educational funding
and performance. As inequities and inefficiency are rife within the system, lawmakers and educational professionals must strive to institute superior funding policies in order to maximize the private and social
benefits of education, and advance the struggling American society in the process. This paragraph helps the student introduce the various benefits of education. An analysis of the benefits of the
educational system must be careful to account for the fact that the system produces benefits both for the individual student through the process of edification, and for society via the
production of more educated individuals to fulfill societal roles and obligations. Moreover, these two dimensions of benefits can be further subdivided into those benefits related to the market, and those
benefits which are non-market in nature (Brewer & MacEwan, 2010). One of the main problems with this framework of the benefits of education, however, is that it is much easier
to quantify the market benefits than it is the non-market benefits. Nevertheless, existing literature on the topic of educational benefits suggest that in terms of private market-driven benefits, the major
