York Times read "Congress Relaxes Rules On Suits Over Pay Inequity". Specifically, Congress has now relaxed the 180 day statute of limitations within which those discriminated against had to
file their claim. The thesis can be presented that this bill will serve admirably not just in the legal as women and other minorities file lawsuits to collect pay
that is justifiably due them, it will also serve as an effective deterrent to pay discrepancies in the future. According to
Diesing (2004), women are compensated an average of thirty percent less than men performing the same job. The situation becomes even more frustrating when we realize that there are
significant differences in pay in jobs that are typically occupied by all females verses those that are occupied by all males. These differences can be up to fifty percent
lower for all-female jobs than that for comparable all-male jobs (Cohen and Huffman, 2003). Previously, employers were able to avoid lawsuits
for pay discrimination if they could prevent the employee from finding out that they were being discriminated against in terms of pay for 180 days (Pear, 2009). With the
new Act in place employers will no longer be able to guard against lawsuits quite so easily. At any point in a woman or another minorities employment they may
