an initial plan, this needs to be reviewed and revised. The minimum requirement for reviews are annual reviews, however there are also times when review and revision may need to
take place more frequently; circumstances change which may include the educational environment as well as the needs of the student (Osborne and Russo, 2007). With the IEP the needs
of the child are considered and specific goals are set, so when a review takes place the movement towards those goals can be assessed. In assessing the childs needs there
are a number of considerations for example, where there are behavioral issues that may hinder the educational process there is a requirement that positive behavior management strategies are considered, and
where there is limited English proficiently the language needs of the child also need to be included (Siegel, 2007). There are also required inclusions, such as the provision of lessons
and materials in Braille for a blind child unless there are contradictory indicators, the use of assistive technology should also be considered. There is also a requirement that there
is respect granted to the regular education teacher, who will be a member of the IEP team, and will be able to determine the requirements if school personnel support, which
need to be consistent with 300.320(a)(4) which deals with the needs of the child. The regular educator is required to be included in any meetings for the IEP review.
