The need fro effective teaching strategies, including strategies designed to motivate students, has become a part of ELT educational models. The Problem Statement Social interaction strategies, including cooperative learning are instructional delivery methods and integrated educational strategies that are based on an interactive approach to learning, that provides an active model in a team structure. In cooperative learning, for example, learners are divided into cooperative teams and each team is required to participate in the educational activities, supporting the learning process for all of the students through the successes of the team. This approach, then, has been proposed as one method to instill educational motivation in English language learners in a variety of different high school settings. As the nation increases in cultural and social complexity, educators and school administrators have had to recognize that individuals from varied cultures learn in distinct ways, often use various intelligences and concentrate on different elements within the educational model, and cooperative learning techniques have been viewed as a way of addressing significant variations in the learner population. One of the primary challenges for educators in the modern day is to gain an understanding of the individual differences in cognitive processing and the implications for curriculum development, instructional process and for the teacher/student relationship as a whole (Herrold, 1989).
