name. Slide 1 If the ITC imposes trade tariffs on Chinese furniture there will be different impacts ion the various
stakeholders. The imposition of the tariffs will increase the cost of the furniture to the imported into the US, a cost which is likely to be carried over to the
consumers raising the final price. The first stakeholder group which is considered is the manufacturers themselves. They are making furniture at a lower cost than their US comparators. This gives
them an advantage in the US market as their furniture is cheaper to buy. Their ability to manufacture the furniture at a
low cost is argued to be due to low labor cost as well as investment in high tech processes. If a tariff is imposed then this is likely to impact
on the demand in response to supply and demand and as such as decline in revenues. This may also impact on aspects such as profit levels, the payback period for
the investment in the new technology and potential difficulties meeting financial obligations dependant on the level of the decline. In the extreme, especially if a great deal of furniture is
exported to the US, the company may end up closing if it is not longer viable (Nellis and Parker, 2000). This may impact
onto other indirect groups of stakeholders; the employees of the manufacturer may see a drop in the hours they work, as the demand for the furniture falls. Some may loose
jobs, depending on the level of the decline, this will then impact on the welfare of the employees and their families, especially if they are unable to get other jobs,
