It is used to help managers make decisions because software programs can store and access and even analyze a multitude of raw data faster than a person can do all

in a new economy, one that is driven by the growth of high-tech jobs and the mass application of information technologies in the workplace (Heldrich Center, 2000). Technology increases worker
productivity, thereby affecting both the structure and the culture of the workplace. Studies have consistently concluded that technology increases and improves productivity in the workplace (Olsten Forum Reports, 2002). One
study found that 80 percent of the executives surveyed reported that "technology is having a profound and positive impact on productivity in the workplace" (Olsten Forum Reports, 2002). For example,
addressing organizational structure, one major company reported that technology has reduced phone costs and allowed the company to respond more quickly to customer inquiries and concerns (Olsten Forum Reports, 2002).
And, in terms of organizational culture, the Internet allows companies to have more interaction with customers, (Olsten Forum Reports, 2002). More than half of the respondents in this survey noted
that the Internet has increased productivity (Olsten Forum Reports, 2002). Intranets enhance the flow of internal communication and allow employees to access information more quickly (Olsten Forum Reports, 2002). Again,
