guides our attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. There is rally no aspect of a human that is not influenced by their culture. Geert Hofstede developed and provided information on cultural dimensions
and how these differ from country to country. Hofstedes dimensions are extremely useful for international managers because the differences between cultures can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts. In fact, Hofstede
(2009) said, "Culture is more often a source of conflict than of synergy. Cultural differences are a nuisance at best and often a disaster." International managers must
understand how strongly the nations culture affects both decision making styles and decision making processes (Business Management Classes Online, 2010; Ogarc, 2008). Decision making is first influenced by the nations
culture which lead to patterns related to culturally based value systems. These, in turn, impact an individuals perception and interpretation of any given situation (Ogarc, 2008). The broader culture then
has a direct relationship to organizational culture. In terms of approaches to decision making, they could be objective or subjective (Business Management Classes Online, 2010; Ogarc, 2008). Westerners are
usually objective decision makers in that they evaluate a situation, interpret it, and develop alternatives solutions. Decisions are mostly based on objective information. In other parts of the world, such
as Latin America, decisions will be more subjective, based on emotions and feelings (Ogarc, 2008). Another very important variable in decision making is locus of control of outcomes (Ogarc, 2008).
