Obamas 2012 State of the Union Address portrays the view that the nation is much better than it was before Obama took office. This portrayal, of
course, is not that unexpected. Practically any person occupying a political office thanks to the vote of the American public would, if given the chance, prefer to cover the
positives than the negatives. Unfortunately, there are many negativities of our modern day society that should be addressed in a factual and less rhetorical manner. One of these
issues is immigration. Immigration, of course, affects many aspects of our society. One of the most concerning in the current day is its affect on health care.
Obama contends that his administration has "put more boots on the border" than any other administration. He contends that, as a
result of his stepped-up efforts on patrolling the border, that there are fewer illegal crossings now than there have been in the past. Republicans and Democrats alike would obviously
be complimentary of stepped up enforcement of existing laws. Obama, however, wants to effect laws that will allow illegal immigrants that are already here to establish citizenship. While
that effort is applauded by Democrats, it is heavily criticized by Republicans. In the 2012 State of the Union Address, Obama said that
