and yet it is likely even more relevant today than it was when it was written. Conovers work is a study, through first hand involvement, of Mexicans coming across the
border. It is a study of the people, the culture, dreams, and struggles. The following paper examines the issues connected with immigration and illegal immigration using Conovers book as a

hopes of possessing freedom and opportunities. It was, in essence, how this nation became what it is today. It is a nation of many cultures. But, this does not mean

always welcome and were considered second-class citizens. The Chinese were, at one point, forbidden entry after many years of being accepted. Today one could claim that most Americans feel immigration
