His system of logic divided judgments into either analytic or synthetic judgments and a priori (those independent from experience), or a posteriori (those based on experience) judgments. Kant believed that
a judgment is persuasive if its repudiation or cancellation proves to be an analytical improbability. The most classic example o the difference is one used time and time again to
explain Kants reasoning. An analytic proposition is one in which the predicate is contained in the subject ("Black dogs are dogs"). The truth of the proposition is evident, because
to state the reverse would be to make the proposition self-contradictory, making it "analytic" since truth is discovered by the analysis of the concept itself. Synthetic propositions, on the other
hand, are those that cannot be arrived at by pure analysis, as in the statement "The dog is black." As a result, all the common propositions that result from experience
of the world are synthetic. If the world were a thing in itself, Kant maintained, it would be true that all past times are given (or as he put
it more cautiously, "presupposed") in the present time. It is possible, according to Kant, that causality inhabits in the intuitive manifestation that underscores wisdom. For example, through some
