Upon arrival, the first thing the investigator noted in the overall attempt to recognize, document, collect, preserve and analyze the physical evidence was the distinct post-explosive odor attributed to detonation aftermath. The next door neighbor was immediately at the investigator's side offering details as she knew them, only one of which was of any actual benefit: The fresh, clear print of a man's athletic shoe was identified in the flowerbed just outside the front door. This was a potentially critical piece of information inasmuch as the elderly woman lived alone, had no sons or brothers, and was not seeing anyone. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

the elderly woman live alone, have no sons or brothers, and was not seeing anyone, but "since criminals must enter and exit crime scene areas it should therefore, be reasonably
assumed that they may leave traces of their footwear" (Hilderbrand, 1995, pp. 2-5, 11). Upon entering the home, it was noted how all doors were locked and windows closed other
than a small window in the bathroom just big enough for a man of average height and weight to enter and exit with little problem. The house was in
order with no obvious sign of struggle - the only item immediately noticed as out of place was how the entertainment center in the victims bedroom was askew, as though
it had recently been pulled away from the wall. The victim was up against the closet door in a sitting position as though the force of the blast catapulted
her backwards. Blood was minimal - excreting from eyes, ears and mouth - no obvious burns. The assistant began snapping photographs of the entire scene, particularly the most
