seems that with each and every presidential campaign a new image is forged. From the days of the Founders, a vision of a free society where no one is
deprived, is something that had been a part and parcel of the American landscape. Yet, the vision to some has meant a large role of the government. In fact, some
see a vision of America as a good society where all the people are simply taken care of, but others see it as a land of opportunity. Yet, the latter
view holds space for the less fortunate. While those who have little are still a part of society, all that is offered is opportunity with the exclusion of tangible items.
While there are a myriad of visions of America, it seems that there is a great divide and one may characterize these as liberal and conservative views. Aside from that,
one can find a commonality in terms of the vision between someone on the extreme left and another on the extreme right. The idea of life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness is ingrained in the minds of perhaps all Americans. America is synonymous with freedom and few argue that point. Still, there are different views and images of America.
Many take their images from their childhood. What is it like to grow up in America? Many remember times when they were children and have images of drippy ice
cream pops from the Good Humor man, stick ball in the hot sun, and trudging through a thick snow fall. They remember election days where their neighbors would go out
in droves to vote and they wondered why it was so important. Boomers remember their parents in tears when John F. Kennedy was shot and then they may remember chaos
