the correlation between preattentive analysis of shapes and the formation of illusory conjunctions. This experiment was designed to assess the nature of elementary units of visual perception and the
potential presence of additional influences on visual perception. This visual perception assessment provides the basis for determining whether illusory conjunctions are formed and the impact that this has on
the analysis of visual perception and features of perceptual knowledge and memory encoding relative to visual perception. In this stud, the Muller-Lyer Experiment will be utilized with a
population of participant students and the outcomes will be reported utilizing a comparable statistical format to that of Treisman and colleagues. Introduction Visual perception is one
of the most difficult abilities to understand and to replicate, because of the complex nature of visual images. Treisman (1986) recognized that the process of visual perception is difficult
to replicate because it not only includes the immediacy of new elements presented, but also integrates the recall of memories that are replicated each time an image is viewed.
Some of visual perception is immediate and focused and some relates to an inattentive process, one that integrates visual "assumptions" based on past experiences, memory encoding and recall. Other
elements relate to a comparative view of visual factors within a field of vision, which can create different responses to the focal point of what is being viewed.
Treisman (1986) argues that it is necessary to identify vision perception relative to a combination of both parts and properties, which include both sensory data
and behavioral factors. In particular, Treisman (1986) provides the example of the visual adaptation and the response to stimuli when watching a waterfall: If you stare at a
